Brandon Stanton was born on March 1, 1984, in Marietta, Georgia. His nickname is Brandon HONY. He was enrolled and graduated from the Walker School in 2002. Then, he completed a major in history at the University of Georgia. In 2010 he bought his first camera while he was working as a bond trader in Chicago. He also worked as a photographer capturing pictures of Chicago during weekends.
However, he lost his job and decided to pursue photography as his full-time career. So, he moved to New York and where he decided to shoot 10,000 New Yorkers and present their pictures directly on the town’s map. While he was doing this, he was without a job and he had to lend money from family and friends. Then, in 2010, he started a Facebook page called Humans of New York where he moved his photographs.

In 2014 Brandon toured to the Middle East in order to shoot people there. This was a 50-day journey over 10 nations in the Middle East which was sponsored by the UN.
