She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 29, 1948, from parents Hogan and Ruth Jackson. She finished her high school education at Brooke Hill School for Girls and her college education at the University of Mississippi. While she was in college she was a member of the Delta Rho chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In her second year of college she moved to New York City in order to enroll into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Kate Jackson used to work at the Rockefeller Centre studios as NBC’s network page. She had the role of Daphne Harridge who played a ghost in a 60s soap-opera called “Dark Shadows”. She worked with actors like Nancy Barrett, Thayer David, John Karlen, Grayson Hall and David Selby. This led to all of them appearing in a TV movie series called “Night of Dark Shadows”, there she had the role of Tracy Collins.
She also had the role of Jill Danko, a nurse and wife of Mike Danko in a TV show called “The Rookies” that used to air in the 1970s.
